Introduction

Welcome to the course! We hope that you enjoy it and get a lot of value from it.

The course is divided into Lessons. The system will force you to work your way through the lessons from the beginning. This is deliberate because each lesson builds in complexity from the previous ones. Also, the practical exercises build on each other as well.

Each Lesson is divided into Sections:

  1. Video – Watch the walkthrough video to get a basic understanding of the formula. Don’t worry if you don’t get all the details, you will return to the video again later in the Lesson.
  2. Explanation
    • Introduction
    • Syntax
    • Examples
    • Notes
  3. Video – Re-watch the video again to get a full understanding now that you have been through the Explanation section.
  4. Practical Exercise – The best way to learn is by having a go! Download the workbook and answer the question. Once you’re done, or if you’re really stuck, download the suggested answer workbook.
  5. Extension Exercise – A more complicated practical exercise that you can use to either test your understanding, or, if you already know the formula in this Lesson is something (slightly) more challenging for you to have a go at!

Sections 1 to 4 are designed to take around 20 minutes, each lesson is easy to fit around a busy schedule.
Section 5 may take a little while depending on its complexity.

Links to the workbooks for the practical exercises can be found in the ‘Materials’ tab at the top of each Lesson page. We suggest you set up a folder on your computer (or network) where you can save all of the practical exercises workbooks. Then you can refer back to them later if needed.

One last note: The Lesson videos have a small ‘teach-me-excel.co.uk’ branding on them. Don’t worry, we haven’t stolen the content! They were first published on our sister website. That website no longer works, in fact it redirects here now.

Enough of the introduction, let’s get to some real learning…
